 Zambians urged to commemorate Day of prayer

The college of bishops of the Christian Coalition of Zambia has commended President Hakainde Hichilema and his cabinet for maintaining the national day of prayer, reconciliation and repentance which is annually celebrated on 18th October.

The Coalition’s president Charles Mwape said that the day will provide Zambians to reconcile after supporting different political parties and holding different political view in during the August poll.

Professor Mwape futher called on all believers across the country to turnout in numbers and appreciate God for according the country peaceful elections.

He said that the development agenda of the country demands that every Zambian comes together in support of the Zambian government if development is to be attained.

Professor Mwape said that there is need to work together as a whole irrespective of religious and political affiliations.

And the National Day of Prayer Organizing Committee said all major preparations for Monday’s National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and Reconciliation have been completed.

Organizing Committee Chairperson Joshua Banda said this year’s commemoration is unique in that it comes after a grueling third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic coupled with an intense election.

Bishop Banda said the country must seize the moment to unite and come before God in humility and repentance, as it seeks divine help through prayers and intercessions regarding current needs as a nation.
