 Zambia, Ethiopia agree to deepen bilateral and economic relations

Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Emmanuel Mwamba has called for close bilateral cooperation between the two countries.

Speaking when he presented his Letter of credence to President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Sahle-Work Zewde at the Palace, Mr Mwamba said Zambia was pursuing economic diplomacy as its international policy and would seek cooperation in the area of investment and business.

He said that the Zambia-Ethiopia Business Forum had been established for the purpose of driving investment between the two countries.

He also informed her that Zambia had embarked on a program to have liberation icon, Dr Kenneth Kaunda to be honoured by the African Union and required support of all member of states especially Ethiopia.

And Mr Mwamba stated that Zambia was looking forward to the next Joint Permanent Commission (JPC) since the last one was last held in 2017.

And President Sahle-Work Zewde said Zambia was an all-weather friend of Ethiopia and she was happy to quickly accredit its ambassador.

She said the business relations between the two countries was symbolized by the two daily flights by Ethiopian Airline.

The presentation of credentials was preceded by a military parade mounted by the Ethiopian Army and the inspection of Guard of Honour by Ambassador Mwamba.

This is according to a media statement made available to The Independent Observer by First Secretary for Press and Tourism at the Zambian Embassy in Ethiopia Inutu Mwanza.
