 Voter turnout improves in Kasenengwa

…polls without independent observers

There is slightly improvement in the voter turnout in the Kasenengwa parliamentary by-elections underway right now.

This is after the Kasenengwa Council chairperson by-election was characterized by voter apathy soon after President Edgar Lungu had declared the constituency as a district.

So far the voting is peaceful as all polling stations opened on time.

Sadly though, there are no Non-Governmental Organisations or independent observers at the polling and totaling centres.

Only the three political parties have their representatives monitoring the polls.

The seat fell vacant following the death of its Member of Parliament Victoria Kalima who was also Gender Minister.

Three political parties are contesting the Kasenengwa seat.

The ruling PF with Sensio Banda, People’s Alliance for Change (PAC) with John Zulu and (United Prosperous & Peaceful Zambia-UPPZ) with Abel Ngwenya.
