President Edgar Lungu says government remans committed to working alongside with teachers to better their welfare, improve their conditions of service and realize human development goals as a country.
Mr Lungu said that there can be no doubt that the teaching profession is significant in our aspiration as a nation.
He said this on his Facebook page where he was wishing a happy Techers day to all the teachers across the country.
“I join fellow citizens in celebrating our hardworking teachers across the country. As I announced earlier in the year, we shall embark on the construction of houses for our teachers. This we must do to ensure decent shelter for the teachers.
‘As we battle COVID-19, it is the hardworking teachers working hard to ensure pupils and students adhere to prescribed public health regulations under the new normal,” he said.
The President said teachers can count on my Government’s unflinching support.
