Stakeholders in Chililabombwe urged to discuss housing challenges

Ministry of Infrastructure Housing and Urban Development has called on Key support players in Chililabombwe District to frequently hold meetings that aim at implementing the matrix of the National Housing Policy (2020-2024) in the district.
Speaking during the meeting of disseminating the 2020-2024 National Housing Policy and Implementation document yesterday at Civic Centre Moffat Tembo from the Ministry of Infrastructure said stakeholders are encouraged to come together and have meetings that will not only help share the document but equally know what works for the district.
“Most districts have the plan but do not know what works for them,” he said.
Mr Tembo said that the document clearly defines expectations per each authority and how best to improve housing infrastructure in each area.
He said that teams from the Ministry of Infrastructure will soon be going round to assess and track implementation plans of each district and track progress.
During the same Chililabombwe Town Clerk George Mulenga said there is need for Housing Stock in Chililabombwe and the policy will be of good help in the matter.
“We need to take note of the total number of houses and apartments in Chililabombwe, “he said.
And District Administrative Officer (DAO) Chipawa Chipawa said that the district is currently facing accommodation challenges.
The DAO said there is need to develop housing units due to the ever increasing population in Chililabombwe.
