Some villages in Sinazongwe ignorant about CDF

Centre for Environment Justice (CEJ) has called for continued efforts to sensitize communities in Sinazongwe district on Constituency Development Fund (CDF) as many villages are not aware about CDF.

This followed responses from respondents through questionnaires, focused group interviews and multi – stakeholder dialogue by CEJ.

CEJ Executive Director Maggie Mwape revealed that people at Sipumina, Sinakasikili, Siamugande Village in Sinazongwe’s Mweemba Chiefdom are not aware about (CDF).

Ms Mwape also said that respondents in Mazyamuna, Mweela and Siankodobbo communities were also not aware of CDF.

She said that Nkomba Bridge in Sinazongwe’s Mweemba Chiefdom has an important project that would be constructed under CDF hence people should be given knowledge about CDF and how it works.

She said the bridge is important because it services Siankombo School and the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) storage shed.

“The Bridge was washed away a long time ago and it is having a negative impact on the livelihoods of the people,” she said.

Ms Mwape called for urgent consideration of the bridge especially that the New Dawn Government has increased the CDF from K1.6m to K28m.

She also disclosed that CEJ had been working in Sinazongwe District from 2018 to date, with support from the Bread for the World (BftW) of Germany.
