GEARS Initiative Zambia Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi has described the Lemmy Kajoba led Police as transforming into a service that respects people’s rights.

Mr Chipenzi said it is one which is not after punishing any suspected wrong doers.

He said this is so because those arrested for various offences, have been given police bonds, a rarely facility during the previous administration.

Mr Chipenzi said the police bond given to former PF Ministers arrested recently for various offences is a demonstration of police’s desire to respect the rule of law.

He said with the police respecting that a person is not guilty until proven by the court of law, withholding cell, remand prisons/facilities will be decongested.

Mr Chipenzi also said GEARS initiative also welcomes the announcement by police to investigate all political atrocities committed by various persons from 2015 under the previous regime.

“We also welcome the opening of a docket against PF member Chishimba Kambwili over his tribal and divisive politics which is against the law of the land,” he said.

He said Zambian yearns for social justice for all and those who want to commit crimes with impunity in the name of politics must not be spared
