Chingola Member of Parliament Matthew Nkhuwa has donated 62 bicycles to marketers, Community Crime Prevention Unit (CCPU), PF and Chief’s representative in Mutenda area.

Speaking in Mutenda, 68 kilometres away from Chingola on the Chingola-Solwezi road, Mr Nkhuwa said he was impressed with the work of Mutenda CCPU for arresting six suspects in connections with gassing happening in Chingola.

He said the 20 bicycles given to CCPU will improve their mobility in the patrols in the area.

The Chingola Lawmaker also gave out 15 bicycles to marketeers as empowerment.

He said marketeers walk long distances to order vegetables in order to resell and bicycles will ease their movements.

The PF received 25 bicycles for party mobilisation while the Shibuchinga Chief’s representative Bernard Longwani received three bicycles.

And responding to the concern raised by Barnabas Ngosa one of the Teachers at Mutenda Combined School who said the school has less classrooms, Mr Nkhuwa said he will build a 1X3 classroom block.

Mr Ngosa had briefed Mr Nkhuwa that the school has 1, 200 of the school which goes up to Grade 12 but it still has infrastructure which was meant for Grade 1-7.

He said the community had molded and burnt bricks and that was all they could go.

In response Mr Nkhuwa who also is Energy Minister said he will provide cement and all the material needed to build 1X3 classroom but the community should provide labour.

He said when there is community participation, there is care in safeguarding the public property.

He said the recent happenings where the community had destroyed the Mutenda Police was was regrettable

“I will rebuild that police post better than it was within 10 days but please let us not take the same route when we are upset. Let us stay away from public property because it serves our children and everyone else,” he said.
