Mufulira Municipal Council Mayor Gift Mushinge has confirmed that the local authority has named a road in the district in honour of the late former Chipolopolo defender Harrison Chongo.

Harrison Chongo Street is situated in Ndeke Township off the Mufulira/Ndola Road.

Chongo died in 2011 at the time he was coaching Mighty Mufulira Wanderers.

“We thought we should honour such people. Harrison Chongo brought glory to the Zambia National Team and to the country,” said Mushinge.

Chongo spent 10 years in Saudi Arabia where he played for Al Taawoun from 1992 to 2002.
