Police in Lusaka pursuing a maid who masterminded an aggravated robbery where six bandits went away with cash and goods worthy K290, 000.
The robbery took place at a Pakistan yesterday, about 12:00 hours in Emmasdale, Off Katima Mulilo road at a residence of Harris Shah, 28.
The suspects who are reported to have been using unknown car but red in colour broke in to Mr Shah’s house with the help of a maid working at the same residence.
The suspects went away with K2,000 cash, 15000 USD cash, Jewelry worth 7000 USD and four passports.
Few minutes later, the maid who had gone to the convenience room rushed into the house, got her hand bag and ran away.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo said shortly after Mr Shah left home the maid only identified as Aoc told Mr Shah’s wife that she was going to the convenience room and immediately after she left, five men entered the premises.
Ms Katongo said the men went straight to the laundry room where the other maid was found washing clothes.
She said the suspects squeezed the other maid by the neck and warned her not to scream and later went to the kitchen where they found Mrs Shah.
Ms Katongo said they grabbed her by the hand and demanded for money.
She said investigations have been instituted.
Meanwhile, an 82-year-old woman of Chilumbi village has died in a road accident.
Ms Katongo has identified the victim as Rita Munkata and said the accident occurred yesterday at around 18:00 hours on Mwense – Kazembe road.
She said the accident happened when a rider of a Yamah motor bike registration number GRZ 70GS, Marvelous Mambwe, 24 of Musangu Village who was carrying a Pillion identified as Zondani Mvula 35, lost control of the motorbike due to excessive speed and hit a pedestrian who was crossing the road.
The body of the deceased is in Mwense District Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem. The rider sustained serious injuries and is unconscious while his Pillion sustained a deep cut on his left arm.
