Luapula Minister Nickson Chilangwa says the results for the Expo hosted to show case the economic potential of the province has started showing results.

And Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD) has called for more collaboration among provincial administrations in the country so as to have the country move at the same pace in development.

Speaking when the MMD leadership paid a courtesy call on him Mr Chilangwa said the Expo which was hosted in the province last year is slowly reaping the intended rewards as seen from the investment by Zambia Sugar which will be opening a plant next month.

He said the investment from the companies has benefited local people such as the small scale farmers who are supplying Cassava to Zambia Breweries and Zambia Sugar who will be opening a plant next month will employ locals.

“Our team is happy to share ideas with other provincial administrations in identifying economic potentials in their different provinces. What will it benefit Luapula Province if the province is 10 steps ahead and everybody else is behind?  We all need to move together and yes sir we are working together, this is a national call.

“During the Luapula Expo we worked together with our counterparts from Northern Province because as you know we share four to five waterfalls so we advertised them as a block because its neither Luapula or Northern but it’s the waterfalls of Northern Zambia. For us we desire and we take delight in working with others,” he said.

Meanwhile MMD National Secretary Raphael Nakacinda said it was encouraging to learn that other provinces are coming on board in exposing their potential to the international market.

Mr Nakacinda who was accompanied by some National Executive Committee members said working together will help the country move at the same pace in its development agenda.

He said the concept of the Expo should be emulated by all provinces in order to ensure maximum exposure of economic opportunities in different provinces.

He gave an example of specialised farming and regional tourism as such areas which have not been exploited by different provinces something he said would help create employment for locals in different provinces.

Mr Nakacinda and the MMD leadership are in Luapula Province to conduct the provincial conference which will commence on Friday afternoon.
