 Kabwe Warriors winless streak continues

Kabwe Warriors’ winless run under Chris Kaunda yesterday stretched to four matches after Nkana narrowly beat them at Nkana Stadium.

The Kabwe outfit has not won a match since Kaunda took over the mantle from Ian Bakala early this month.

Before losing 1-0 to Nkana, Warriors battled to a 1-1 draw with Indeni then went down 1-0 to Zesco United and settled for a scoreless draw with Kansanshi Dynamos last weekend.

Striker Alex Ng’onga’s spot kick in the second half handed Kaunda his second loss as Warriors coach.

Warriors’ goalkeeper Scott Ngokene brought down Ng’onga in the box on 65 minutes and referee Shemy Nyondo pointed to the spot.

Warriors’ assistant coach Derrick Mulenga described the loss as painful as the team was prepared to get maximum points.

“It’s a painful loss that we got today, because we came here to collect maximum points. There are certain decisions that didn’t go our way but I won’t say much on that.

“But from look of things there are certain decisions that didn’t go our way but it’s football and as a team we just have to build up from this loss and work hard,” he said.

Nkana Coach Beston Chambeshi expressed happiness after his charges bounced back to winning ways.

The Kitwe giants lost 3-0 to Red Arrows last Saturday.

Nkana moved to 33 points while Warriors remain on 25 points.
