The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has commend Government through the Ministry of General Education for procuring and distributing an assortment of modern learning equipment and office furniture to schools country wide.
PROTUZ Director Public Relations and International Affairs Brian Mwila said the exercise is going to be a huge relief to teacher members in Science, Home Economics, Design and Technology and ICT departments.
“We appreciate Government’s commitment to ensuring that schools are stocked with modern equipment to match with the teaching and learning standards of the 21st century,” he said.
Mr Mwila said that the exercise will not only alleviate office furniture challenges in schools especially in rural areas but also help motivate teachers to work hard.
“As we commend Government for this gesture, we want to take this opportunity also to appeal to the Government to expedite the process of providing solar equipment to rural schools to ensure that no child is left behind in the provision of education in the country,” he said.
The union has urged all the school authorities in receipt of the equipment to put it to good use and guard it from any form of vandalism.
