The neighborhood watch of Mutenda area of Chingola have apprehended a suspect in connection with the gassing of houses in Chingola.

Addressing the residents during a meeting held at Mutenda combined school Chingola Commanding Officer Peter Miselo said the suspect was apprehended by the neighborhood watch group around 01:00 hours.

Mr Miselo said that the residents surrendered the suspect to police after interrogating him, the suspect admitted.

He expressed happiness that the community did not take the law in there hands by beating the suspects adding that the same man will help to identify others behind the crime.

Speaking during the same meeting, Chingola Mayor Titus Tembo who also commended the residents advised them not to be aggrieved and resort to damaging public property.

Mr Tembo said destroying of public property should come to an end to lessen the already exiting challenges.

He said the gassing and ritual killings are not just in rural areas but also in urban areas/ZANIS.
