ERB dispels rumors of fuel increment

The Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has dispelled rumors circulating on social media suggesting that a decision has been made to increase electricity tariffs and fuel prices by 15 and 20 percent respectively after the General election.

ERB Public Relations Manager Kwali Mfuni said the board is concerned with such reports because they have potential to cause alarm among members of the public.

Ms Mfuni said fuel prices can only be adjusted upon the ERB undertaking a costs assessment, which is based on an applicable price model.

“I wish to urge the general public to disregard the rumors and only trust statements issued and verified by authorities,” she said
