Church plays a role in education sector-Chipoka Mulenga

Commerce Trade & Industry Minister Chipoka Mulenga has recognized the contribution made by the Church to the education sector in the country.

Speaking at St Peter and Paul Parish fundraising dinner in Chingola over the weekend, Mr Mulenga said the money raised at the dinner is meant for construction of a boys technical school in the district.

Mr Mulenga who is also Chingola Member of Parliament said direct and indirect jobs will be created from construction level up to the time the school will be commissioned.

Meanwhile, St Peter and Paul Parish Priest Fr. Cletus Mutunu thanked government for creating a conducive environment in the education sector.

Fr Mutunu said the church will continue to supplement government effort in the education sector by providing quality education even under the free education policy at hand.

And speaking earlier, fundraising Chairperson Charles Tambatamba disclosed that the parish has already bought land earmarked for the construction of the boys school.

Mr Tambatamba said the land is big enough to allow agricultural production for feeding the pupils as well as practical lessons in agriculture.

He added that excess produce will be sold to generate some income for the school. ZANIS
