Chililabombwe buys 3 trucks for refuse collection

Chililabombwe Municipal Council (CMC) has purchased three tipper trucks to speed up the garbage collection.
The three tipper trucks were handed over to the council by Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe worth K2, 550, 000 from locally generated funds.
Mr Nundwe said that the fleet will enhance refuse collection in the district and the struggle would be no more.
Mr Nundwe said the trucks have been procured to effectively and efficiently implement and support the keep Zambia clean company recently launched by the President.
He said garbage collection is a costly venture and undoubtedly all persons generate waste hence it is the responsibility of everyone to participate in its management.
Mr Nundwe said that Government is committed to ensure all municipalities up they game in providing the much needed services to maintain a clean and habitable environment to avoid outbreaks of water borne diseases.
He commended CMC and called on other local Authorities to emulate them saying that councils have the capacity to generate funds for it sustenance.
“This is a great milestone and signifies the commitment this council attaches to a sustainable solid waste system. As you may be aware that president Edgar Lungu launched the keep Zambia clean campaign so the ministry of local Government through councils provide leadership and commitment in the implementation of the same.
“Let us domesticate the slogan my waste my responsibility to create a better and healthy environment for ourselves and our children. I implore the Local Authority to follow procedure when using the machines for the equipment to last,” he said.
And Chililabombwe Deputy Mayor Boyd Soko told the people to take responsibility for the Trucks and guard them jealously as they were bought at a great cost.
Mr Soko also appealed to PS for a loader and a grader for the smooth operations of the Council.
