President Hakainde Hichilema has sworn Zambia Army Commander Lieutenant General Sitali Alibuzwi, his Deputy Godfrey Zyele, Zambia Air Force Commander Collin Barry, and his deputy Major General Oscar Nyoni.

Others that were sworn in are Zambia National Service Commandant Malichi Solochi his Deputy Major General Rueben Mwewa and Zambia Police Inspector General Lemmy Kajoba and his deputies Milner Muyambango and Doris Chibombe.

The head of state has appointed and sworn-in Anthony Bwalya as Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations

Speaking at swearing in ceremony, President Hichilema urged the newly appointed Service Chiefs to protect the country and its citizens as they take up their new roles.

“I expect a new way of working in the police service and that the public should have confidence in law enforcement agencies, for police officers are not there to work against citizens, there is also need to restore the rule of law, liberties and rights and freedoms,” he said.

The head of state said there is need for the Police Service to work professionally which will earn them the respect from the Public.

President Hichilema has also implored Zambians not to demonise the Former defence chiefs that he has relieved from duty as they worked very hard before and after the election.

He since congratulated the newly appointed officers saying their appointment is because they are Zambians regardless of where they are coming from.
