A trigger happy civilian has accidentally shot dead his close friend who happens to be a Police officer of Kabwe.

Simon Mbulo of Makululu Township of Kabwe has shot dead his close friend Sergeant Samuel Tembo, 47 of Kasanda Police Camp using a pistol.

Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo has confirmed the fatal shooting to The Independent Observer in an interview.

Ms Katongo said the incidence happened in the early hours of today June 19, 2018 at about 01 40 hours at a funeral house in Kabwe’s Kasanda Police Camp.

She said Sgt Tembo who was in company of other friends at the funeral house went to Mbulo’s car where he was found sleeping.

“When Sgt Tembo with friends tried to wake him up by knocking on the door of the vehicle, Mbulo opened fire and shot Sgt Tembo twice through the window and he sustained bullet wounds.

“He was rushed to Kabwe General Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect has been arrested and the pistol recovered while the body of Sgt Tembo is in Kabwe General Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem,” she said.
