A-76-year-old woman of Chingola’s Fipuya area has been raped and later strangled to death by unknown people.

Copperbelt Police Chief Charity Katanga has confirmed the death of Albertina Chitekulu of Fipuya.

Ms Katanga said Ms Chitekulu was found dead inside her house half naked in the incidence suspected to have happened between April 5, around 19:00 hours and the morning of April 6.

“We suspect that Ms Chitekulu was raped because semen was found on her private parts. She also sustained marks of strangulation around her neck and bleeding from the mouth,” she said.

She said the body has been put in Nchanga North General Hospital waiting for postmortem while police have launched investigations into the matter.

No arrest has been made.
