About 60,000 teachers, who are registered with the Teaching Council of Zambia, are yet to be employed.
Teaching Council of Zambia Registrar, Ebby Mubanga disclosed that cumulatively, over 190,000 teachers countrywide have registered since 2016, when the exercise started.
Dr Mubanga said the cumulative numbers of registered teachers are serving in public and private schools, as well as those, who are not employed.
He also said that out of the total of registered teachers, 1-hundred and 10-thousand are employed in government schools, while 30,000 are in private institutions.
Dr Mubanga said that the Teaching Council of Zambia is keeping track the number of teachers in the country, for the purpose of easy planning in the education sector.
