 56 injured as Zambia Army bus crashes

Fifty-six people have been admitted at Maina Soko Hospital and are being treated for injuries after a Zambia Army Marcopolo bus they were in was involved in a Road Traffic Accident along, Mungwi road.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hammonga confirmed the accident to The Independent Observer that the accident is alleged to have happened when the Driver of the Zambia Army who was approaching from the direction of West towards East whilst descending a curve misjudged clearance.
Mr Hamoonga said the driver misjudged the distance of the Minibus which was stationed in front hence he went on to hit the bus, forcing it to move off the road on the extreme right side before losing control and overturned on extreme left side of the road.
He said the accident which occurred today December 21, 2021 around 06:35 hours along Mungwi road opposite Celene’s Private School. Also involved was a Toyota Hiace Minibus registration number ALF 8790 which had its rear part depressed while being driven by unknown driver who fled the scene after the accident.
Mr Hamoonga said that the bus driver Warrant Officer Class two Collins Kamau who complained of general body pains and was rushed to Maina Soko military hospital.
“On board were undisclosed numbers of passengers. There are 56 Casualties at Maina Soko hospital being treated for various serious injuries.
