Thirty-one people among them Manyika ward Councillor Vincent Mwachiyeya has been arrested for allegedly attacking five Zambia Wildlife Officers and stealing their property worth K34, 185.
The suspects stole the property after destroying the officers camping tents valued at  K33,030.
Police Spokesperson Esther Katongo confirmed the arrest of the suspects in a statement yesterday.
“We received a report from Wildlife officials that five officers  were attacked by a mob led by a councilor. They allegedly stole their property worth K34,185 and maliciously damaged five tents valued at K33,030,”she said.
Ms Katongo said the suspects are in police custody and investigations are have continued.
“Police have arrested 31 people including the councilor and  are in police custody. Investigations in this matter have continued. The incident happened January 19, at Chalenga area in Chief Nkomesha of Chongwe district,” she said.
