Police in Lusaka have gunned down three armed criminals and also recovered a vehicle and an AKA 47 intended to be used at a robbery in Matero’s Lilanda area last night.
Police Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga during a press briefing said that after receiving information from the public that criminals wanted to stage a robbery, the police rushed to scene where there was a heavy exchange of gun fire.
Mr Hamoonga said that five criminals were found at the scene and three were killed and two are still on the run.
He has called on the members of the public that might be missing their relatives to come and identify the bodies of those gunned down at UTH mortuary.
Mr Hamoonga has warned these criminals that police will work around the clock to bring them to book.
He said the guns on the streets are the ones being used by criminals to committee criminal activities.
